I love levain bread, so if there is a levain bakery I go right away since I want to see how it tastes, and what the mouth-feel is like. This is one of those bakeries. This store is in an inconvenient place for my family, however there was one day where we happened to be in the area, and stopped by on our way home. We visited the bakery just before 2 p.m. on a Sunday. The bakery closes at 3, so we were cutting it close.
　The interior of the bakery is spacious, and there is a display case filled with danishes, pastries, and bread. Looking at the reviews, the focaccia seems to be popular. We were there for lunch, so we all ordered sandwiches. We ordered two Avocado, Garlic Aioli, Vermont Cheddar, and Arugula sandwiches; and a Proscuitto Cotto, Fontina, Dijon Mustard, Arugula sandwich with no Dijon mustard. The sandwiches were served on baguettes. Our family loves avocado sandwiches, and our daughter ate all of her 1/2 of the baguette sandwich (it was so filling we almost didn’t need dinner).
　The baguette crust was thick and crunchy. The inside of the bread was nicely chewy and had beautiful air holes. If you like baguettes you need to try at least once. Personally, the aioli with garlic and lemon left an aftertaste. Did you know that aioli uses egg yolks? I am not a fan of eggs, but I was still able to eat this. Please let the staff know if you have any food allergies.
　For drinks we had coffee, hot cocoa, and a matcha latte. We had our hot cocoa and matcha latte with almond milk. Usually matcha lattes in America are too sweet, so even when I want to drink one I can’t, but this one was not too sweet, and the almond milk made it smooth and easier to drink.
　Next, the display case had croissants, danishes, focaccia, and cakes. We tried a cake with pears, and I think the bakery may be better off sticking to bread, the cake left a lot to be desired. I do recommend the danishes however. They had a number of different flavors, so you can choose one to your liking. We toasted ours a little bit, and it made the danish crispier, filling our mouths with deliciousness. I am not a fan of croissants, but based on the danishes I can imagine that the croissants must also be pretty good. They were light in the mouth, and the bread was thick, consisting of many layers.
　Lastly, my favorite, the levain. Unfortunately it was sold out. Usually there are at least a few still available at closing time, but the day we went they had sold their whole stock for the day. I couldn’t believe it! The staff said that people usually call ahead so they can have one set aside. Since this was what I wanted from here, next time I plan on calling ahead. The bakery has no parking in front, but there is ample street parking nearby. Also, on Sunday people are coming into the store right up until closing, so if there is something specific you want, it is best to order ahead over the phone. Next time, I am going to do this to get my beloved levain!

　私はルヴァン種のパンが大好きなので、ルヴァン種のパン屋さんがあればすぐにでも行って、どんな味なのか、食感なのか試したくなります。そしてこちらのお店がその一つで、おすすめです。こちらのお店は、我が家からは不便な位置にありますが、ちょうどこのパン屋さんの近辺に行く用事があったので、帰りに立ち寄ることができました。入店したのは、日曜の午後2時前。お店は3時に閉店なので、ギリギリでした。
　店内はとても広く、デニッシュ系のパンがショーケースに並べられていました。レビューをみると、フォッカッチャが人気のようです。ランチを食べるためにサンドイッチを家族でオーダー。サンドイッチは毎日11時以降しか頼めません。オーダーしたのは、「Avocado, Garlic Aioli, Vermont Cheddar, Arugula」と「Proscuitto Cotto, Fontina, Dijon Mustard, Arugula（マスタード抜き）」です。サンドイッチのパンは、バケットでした。我が家はアボカドのサンドイッチが好みで、娘もバケットサンドの1/2個を平らげました。（晩御飯はいらないかもいうぐらい、お腹が膨れます）
　バケットのクラストは、薄く、食べるとカリッとしてました。クラムはほどよい歯ごたえがあり、きれいな穴ぼこでした。バケット好きさんには、一度試してほしいです。個人的には、ガーリックとレモンがきいたアイオリソースが尾を引きました。知っていましたか？アイオリソースって卵黄を使いますよね？私はたまごが苦手なので敬遠したいところですが、食べれました（笑）アレルギーのある方は、店員さんに質問することをおすすめします。
　ドリンクは、コーヒー、ココア、抹茶ラテを頼みました。我が家は、アーモンドミルクでココアと抹茶ラテをいただきました。アメリカで飲む抹茶ラテは甘みが強く、飲みたくても飲めないことが多々ありますが、こちらのは甘さが控えめ、かつ、アーモンドミルクのおかげでサラっとしていて飲みやすかったです。
　次にショーケースには、クロワッサン、デニッシュ、フォッカッチャ、そしてケーキが並んでいます。洋ナシのケーキをひとついただきましたが、やはりこちらはパン屋さん。ケーキはもういいかな…（すみません）
　デニッシュは、おすすめです。いろんな味があるので、お好みのものを選んでください。家で少しトーストしてから食べると、デニッシュ生地がよりパリっとして、おいしさが口の中で広がります。私はクロワッサンは苦手ですが、デニッシュから想像する限り、クロワッサンもおいしいのではないでしょうか？とにかく口当たりが軽く、何層にもなったパン生地は圧巻です。
　最後に私の本命、ルヴァン。残念ながら売り切れていました。普段は閉店前でもいくつか残っているらしいのですが、この日に限って売り切れ。ありえないですよね。お店の人がいうには、事前にお店に電話しておけば取り置きをしてくれるみたいです。私は食べたいものがもう決まっているので、次は事前電話しようと思っています。お店の前には駐車場はありませんが、近くに路駐できるスペースがたくさんあるので、利用してください。そして日曜の閉店間際でも、お客さんは絶え間なく来ますので、食べたいものが決まっている人は、やはり予約しておくことをおすすめします。次回、ルヴァンを食べたら、こちらを再度更新いたします。
