Here is the review of Funny Story by Emily Henry. Emily is the #1 New York Times bestselling author and I chose this book because it is her new book.
Daphne has been engaged with Peter, but it was called off because Peter realized he and his childhood friend, Petra, fell in love. Which is how Daphne begins her new story. She found a roommate, Miles Nowak who is Petra’s ex. Daphne and Miles starts to share time together. She would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex… right?
I thought this must be orthodox and was doubtful if it’s fun to read. It took time for me to come to like it. There’s lots of emotion and feelings throughout. If I was in my 20’s, I would learn that the balance of love and friendship are very important. I hope this book tells younger generations about it.

Funny Story by Emily Henry の感想を書きます。ニューヨークタイムズベストセラーに選ばれているEmily Henryの新作がでたので、読むことにしました。
ダフネには婚約者のピーターがいましたが、突然ピーターに婚約解消したいといわれます。理由は、幼馴染のペトラに感情があり、ペトラと結婚したいからだといいます。途方に暮れたダフネは、家探しを始め、ルームメイトにであい、しばらくの間、マイルズと暮らします。実は、このマイルズは、ペトラの元恋人です。一緒に時間を過ごしていく中で、ダフネはマイルズに恋をしますが、彼はペトラの元彼氏。どうなるのでしょう？！
この設定で始まる本なので、なんだか読むのがしんどいかなと思い、前半は読み進めるのに時間がかかりました。ストーリーはとてもテンポよく進むので、引き込まれて読み続けることができました。笑いあり、涙ありなラブコメです。最後は、恋愛をしているダフネの人生観を読みながら、恋だけに全力投球で進めるのではなく、自分の夢や友人など、バランスよくすべて進めることが大切だという教え的要素も入っているので、若い世代にはおすすめです。
