On the road from Rangeley to Portland, we got hungry and took a pit-stop at this sandwich shop. We were in the middle of a drive through the Maine wilderness with no sign of civilization, so truthfully speaking our expectations for this place were low. We googled “Sandwich Shop,” and this was the first result. There weren’t many reviews but the ones that were there were positive, so we took a chance and entered with some trepidation. The interior of the shop was by no means fashionable, but it was neat and had a charm to it. There was just one woman taking orders and making food, but once it got a little busy a second woman came out to help. 
　The sandwiches we ordered were a Turkey & Cheddar Maple (without mustard), a Classic Avocado BLT, and a Smokehouse. The sandwiches were made to order, so there was a little wait before they were served. There is Wi-Fi available while you are waiting at the table, which is generous. The Classic Avocado BLT is a cold sandwich, but they toasted the bread so it was served warm. Also, the bread was country-style bread made by the owner. The ciabatta didn’t have a lot of air pockets, but it was surprisingly tasty. When eating it we thought, “Bread this good all the way out here?” There were a few phone orders that came to pick up sandwiches, and some local police officers came to pick up lunch, and foot traffic was slow but steady throughout lunch. It had the feel of people stopping by the house of a local matron for lunch. It really had an “at-home” feeling to it. It was certainly better than a large chain sandwich shop.
　If you live nearby, they also have soups and pies to go that are well-reviewed, but since we were travelling we didn’t take any with us in case it went bad in the car. Instead, we ordered some smoothies to go, but rather than being too sweet with sugar it was made with plenty of fresh fruit, which was apparent in its taste. If you like berries, I recommend the Mixed Berry smoothie. It doesn’t have any banana, so you can enjoy the flavor of just berries.  
　The store is located in Mexico, the name of a town deep in rural Maine. It is right next to Peru. There are probably not too many people who make their way through the peculiar area, but if you happen to find yourself there Hot Contents is a great place to stop for lunch.

　Rangeleyからポートランドに向かう道中、小腹がすいたのでこのお店に寄りました。とにかく何もない町中をひたすらドライブしていたので、正直このお店に期待を寄せていませんでした。グーグルでサンドイッチを食べれる場所を探して、一番最初にでてきたのがこのお店。レビューは少ないながらも高評価だったので、怖いものみたさで入ってみることに。店内は決しておしゃれではありませんが、こぎれいにしている感じが見て取れました。基本、女性一人がオーダーからキッチンまで切り盛りされており、忙しくなると、もう一人の女性がヘルプで入ります。
　我が家がオーダーしたのは、Turkey & Cheddar Maple (マスタードなし）、Classic Avocado BLT、The Smokehouseでした。オーダーメイドなので、出てくるまでに時間がかかります。店内にあるテーブル席で待っていると、Wi-Fiが使えることが判明！なんと、寛大なのでしょう。 Classic Avocado BLTはコールドサンドイッチだったのですが、パンをトーストしてくれたので、温かかったです。そしてパンは、おかみさんの手作りリュスティック。クラムがたくさんあるリュスティックではないですが、十分、パンがおいしくて驚きました。食べていると、地元の人でしょうか？予約電話がかかってきたり、ピックアップする人が訪れたり、警察官の人たちが来たりと、じわじわとにぎわってきました。イメージとしては、実家のお母さんのごはんを食べているといったような感じです。アットホームなところが、とても気に入りました。某有名なサンドイッチチェーン店より、はるかにおいしい手作りサンドイッチです。
　家が近ければ、定評のあるスープやパイなども試してみたかったのですが、何せ旅行中の身ですから断念せざるを得ませんでした。その代わりに追加で、スムージーを注文したのですが、砂糖の甘みではなく、フレッシュのフルーツをふんだんに使って作ってくれたというのがよくわかる味のスムージーでした。ベリー好きの人は、Mixed Berryをおすすめします。バナナが入っていないので、ベリーの味だけを楽しむことができます。
　メイン州なのに、メキシコ市にあるこちらのお店。ちなみにメキシコ市のお隣はペルー市です（笑）なかなかこの土地を訪れる機会がある人は少ないかもしれませんが、もし何かの予定でこの近辺に行く方にこちらをお勧めします。
