Do you know the differences between dim sum and yum cha? According to the website, Cantonese people often use the phrase “yum cha” instead of dim sum. Dim sum refers to the small-dishes of food and desserts, whereas yum cha refers to the act of having a meal involving such dishes while drinking tea. I guess we found a nice dim sum restaurant in Edison, NJ. I know there is Chinatown in NYC and you can have lots of choices to go to. Sometimes we hesitate to go there only to have food due to heavy traffic. If you live in the North NJ area, try to go to Wu’s Shanghai Dumpling.

The building doesn’t look great so you might wonder if it is good. Believe me, it’s worth a try. When we visited, the restaurant was filled with people, which made us relieved. A lot of people came to pick up their food as well. Some waiters spoke only Chinese, it seemed like they could understand what we were trying to tell them. You can tell them what numbers on the menu you want. My recommendation is juicy buns. I also saw a staff making dough in the kitchen. And they serve them as soon as they are ready to serve. They are very hot and juicy. The size of the juicy bun is bigger. This hit in my family.  
They also have appetizer, soup, noodle, rice and dessert. Enjoy your meal!

私は小籠包が好きです。小籠包を私は家で作らないので、お店で食べるものだと思っています。マンハッタンに行けばたくさんお店があるのですが、交通量を考えると、小籠包のためだけに行くのは億劫になります。が、嬉しいことにNJでおいしいお店を見つけました。キッチンではスタッフが生地から作っていたので、正真正銘の手作り小籠包です。
Wu’s Shanghai Dumplingは、ニュージャージー州のエジソンにあります。建物はおしゃれではないので、いささか不安な気持ちをいただくかもしれません。心配しないでください！店内は人でにぎわっていて、持ち帰りのお客さんが頻繁に出入りします。オーダーをする際は、メニューに書かれている数字をウェイターに伝えるとスムーズです。中には中国語しかしゃべらない店員さんもいましたが、不思議と何を言っているのか、私たちも分かりましたし、店員さんも何を私たちが伝えたいのか、欲しいのかわかってくれました。
小籠包を二種類注文しました。日本とちがって、一つが大きく、ボリュームがあるので、意外とおなかが膨れます。そしてなんといっても、出来立てほやほやをテーブルに運んでくれるのは格別です。
小籠包以外にもサラダやスープ、焼き飯、デザートとバラエティ豊かなので、行くたびにいろんなものに挑戦することができます。エジソン近辺に住んでいる人、このあたりに用事がある方はぜひ試してみてください。
