This bookstore is not a chain, but a small store loved by locals. When we travel, I always try to buy a book for my daughter that has a connection to the place we are visiting. However, truthfully it can be hard to find such a book. Thankfully, this store features a “New England” corner with a collection of locally authored books. It has books for both adults and kids, and covers a number of different genres. You can find this book online as well, but we bought Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney for our daughter when we visited the store. It won the American Book Award the year it was published. It features lupines, flowers that bloom along the Maine coast, and is a very pretty book.
　The store also has a number of goods other than books such as pins and stationary, so it is a good place to pick up some local trinkets. As chain-stores become more and more commonplace in the world, we try to contribute to endeavoring local small businesses in hopes that it leads to their revitalization. The store is a little ways off of the main downtown area, but there is plenty of parking nearby, so head on over if you get the chance.

メイン州のポートとランドにあるPrint: A Bookstoreは、地元の人に愛されている本屋さんです。私は旅行先で必ず娘にその場所にゆかりのある本があれば、それを購入するようにしています。でもなかなかご当地本は見つけられないのが現実です。しかし、この本屋さんには、ニューイングランド地方特集コーナーを設けてくれています。そこには大人から子供の本まで、あらゆる分野の本が棚に並べられてます。ネットでも購入することはできますが、今回は娘のためにBarbara Cooney著作のMiss Rumphiusを購入しました。出版年にアメリカン・ブック・アワードを受賞した本でもあります。メイン州の海岸沿いに咲くルピナスの花が出てきて、とてもきれいな本です。
　そのほかに雑貨なども売られています。缶バッチなどもあるので、本好き、雑貨好きさんには楽しい空間だと思うのでおすすめです。チェーン店ばかりが多くなってきた世の中だからこそ、地元で頑張って商売をしているお店に貢献して、活性化につながればなと思うばかりです。繁華街から少し離れていますが、路駐の場所も容易に見つけられるので、足を運んでみてください。
