Here, I will introduce recommended spots for hiking with children in the United States. This time, I’d like to introduce you to Gertrude’s Nose and Millbrook Mountain in Minnewaska State Park Preserve. This park is popular and they have several trails there. Admission fee (Parking fee) is $10 and there are 4 parking lots. I recommend using the parking lot closest to the welcome center. It’s a 6.7-mile loop trail. We did the loop clockwise along as several reviews recommendation, hitting the Millbrook Mountain Trail first. As this place/ trail is popular, it is good to start in the morning.
The trail is maintained well. You can hike without the trail markers, which are red. There is a creek. You can pass it over using the rocks. To compare with the trail to go to Gertrude’s Nose, going to Millbrook’s trail is wet and slippery. Make sure you wear waterproof shoes or hiking boots in order not to slip. You can see the panorama view from the summit and have a break or lunch before heading to Gertrude’s Nose.
As for Gertrude’s Nose, it has impressive and dramatic cliffs in The Gunks. Be aware that there are no safety bars so stay safe. You can enjoy the lake, summit and cliff in one trail.

アメリカで、子連れハイキングのおすすめスポットを紹介していきます。今回はニューヨーク州にある、ミネワスカ州立公園内にあるハイキングコースの一つ、ガートゥルードズ・ノーズ / ミルブルックマウンテントレイルを紹介します。ミネワスカ公園に入る際に、10ドルの駐車料金がかかります。園内に駐車場は4か所あり、ウェルカムセンターに近いところが便利です。こちらのトレイルは、6.7マイル(約10.8km)のループトレイルです。
人気があるコースなので、朝から行くことを進めます。歩き方は、ブルックマウンテンを最初に目指す、時計周りを勧めます。道も整備されているので、トレイルマーカー（赤色）がなくても、コースが分かります。途中、川を渡ります。大きな石が橋代わりに置いてあるので、比較的簡単に渡れます。道が濡れていることが多いので、ウォータープルーフの靴やすべりにくい靴を勧めます。ミルブルックマウンテンの頂上は、大きな岩盤があり、パノラマビューで街を見下ろすことができます。休憩をここでとり、後半戦に挑むといいでしょう。山頂からガートゥルードズ・ノーズまでは、岩や石が多い道で、山のふちを歩いていきます。こちらの道は、乾燥しているので、滑りにくいと思います。
ガートゥルードズ・ノーズは見事な絶壁、白色の崖です。見る価値、楽しむ価値ありです！でも安全柵などはもちろんないので、安全には気を付けてください。一つのコースで、湖、山頂、崖という、バラエティーに富んだ風景を楽しめます。
