I will introduce recommended spots for hiking with children in the United States. Today, I will introduce you to Devil’s Path to Jimmy Dolan Notch Overlook and Twin Mountain Summit.
Platte Clove Road via the parking lot is a seasonal road, so it is better to plan to hike before winter. The parking area at the end of Prediger Road is with space for lots of cars, but this lot serves two popular mountains. So I recommend planning to arrive early at peak times. There were 2 portable toilets in the parking area. (**We used the toilet in a gas station in Saugerties on the way.)
The trail is relatively flat from the parking area to the first junction. We followed the blue trail markers because we wanted to hike the Jimmy Dolan Notch Trail, which means turn right on the first junction.
There were a lot of trees and rocks at the first mile and the trail is still not steep yet. We went there the week of Columbus Day, but the color leaves have fallen down. If you want to enjoy autumn colors, it might be good to go around the end of September. I regret leaving my gloves in the car, so I recommend preparing extra clothes or equipment like hand warmers, wind jackets.
You start to see big stones and this would be the turning point to change the steep trail. About 2.5 miles, you will reach the next junction leading to Twin Mountain Summit. We follow the red trail markers from here.
At 3250\u2019, you\u2019ll come to the trickiest part of the hike. You’ll be surprised when you see giant rocks that feel like an ancient stone portal. Climb over the large boulders and head to the back of the enclosure. Be aware that cell coverage in this spot is not good. If you aren’t confident to climb up, just turn around for your safety. Views from the summit are obstructed because of trees, but it sounds right doesn’t it because it is Catskill mountain. Leisurely walk into a series of scrambles, so wear the hiking boots!! Trail is very quiet, well marked and beautiful surrounded by trees and ancient rocks. It’s worth it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
