Here, I\u00a0will introduce recommended spots for hiking with children in the United States. This time, I’d like to introduce you to Stairway to Heaven & Pochuck Valley via the Appalachian Trail in NJ.
We parked our car on Rt.517 because we wanted to walk the Boardwalk. Parking is on both sides of 517, along the shoulder and room is limited. There is no bathroom so it’s better to go somewhere else like a supermarket around there.
Boardwalk is almost no elevation and long, so I think children will enjoy this part of the hike. It is located in a marsh so I recommend going there during the cool season.
After walking the boardwalk, you will cross Canal Rd and the heart-breaking hill starts. The distance to Pinwheel\u2019s Vista is not long (2.6mile total, round trip), but the trail surface is dirt and roots with extremely rocky sections. It might be difficult for small children to go up to the top. Also, you expect high traffic including dogs since this trail is popular. You follow the white makers until the size of the rock pile appears to call attention to the turn and follow the blue makers starting from this junction. You will see a big rock on your left, which is Pinwheel\u2019s Vista.
This trail ranked hard on Alltrais<\/a>, however, you and your children will be able to enjoy the boardwalk. We hiked in winter, but there were a good amount of people there. As the others’ reviews say, this hike is very beloved and I’d rather hike with less traffic. We were pleased with the boardwalk more than Vernon Valley from Pinwheel\u2019s Vista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
